You'll be in for a treat when our cafe reopens in July newly renovated and run in partnership with Creative Caterers.

For Educators

We are passionate about helping you provide hands-on, real-word experiences for your students. This page will walk you through everything you need to know to make the most of your school visit to the Rochester Science Museum and Science Center, Strasenburgh Planetarium or Cumming Nature Center from program opportunities to planning your visit. For questions or to make your reservation, call RMSC Group Scheduling at 585.697.1942.

Planning Your Visit

How much do school visits cost?

Most visits cost $6 per student, but may vary depending on the chosen program and program add-ons. Explore our programs above for specific program details or download our School & Teacher Program Guide.

Are scholarships available?

Yes! Financial assistance is available starting in September through the generous gifts of donors for students who would not otherwise be able to participate. Partial scholarships are granted based on need on a first-come, first-served basis so apply early. Apply Here.

What do we do for lunch?

Students can bring their own lunches in brown paper bags – no lunch boxes, please. If visiting our Museum or Planetarium, students also have to option to pre-order from 3rd ROC Café at least one week ahead. Please let us know if your group plans to eat lunch during the visit and we’ll provide a place for your group to eat lunch at no extra charge (School days, Sept. to June only).

Download the 3rd ROC Café Lunch Order Form for menu details.

How many chaperones do we need?

Make reservations for as many chaperones as you would like. We recommend at least one chaperone for every 10 students. One adult is admitted free for every five students and any additional adults pay the student rate. (Different rules apply for School Overnights.)

Chaperones are required to remain with their groups and are responsible for appropriate behavior of all students. Groups exhibiting inappropriate behavior may be asked to leave.

What do I do about visit confirmation or cancellation?

You'll receive confirmation materials in the mail. If you need to cancel your visit, please call (585) 697-1942 as soon as possible.
