February Break Curiosity Camps
Explore the wonders of our wild world this week! Discover our place in space and get hands-on with our amazing planet—from fire and ice to animals and wacky weather. Campers will have an exclusive look at our new exhibition Elements of the Extreme, have the world at their fingertips in Science on a Sphere and sit under the stars in the Strasenburgh Planetarium.
All Camp Programs include instructor led hands-on activities and experiments in classrooms and exploration time in the museum’s galleries.

Monday, Feb. 20: Into the Cosmos (SOLD OUT)
Intergalactic adventures await! Voyage through a space time odyssey into our solar system and beyond--from the depths of our galaxy to the far reaches of the cosmos! Discover planet Earth’s place in space as we investigate the wild wonders beyond our world. Experience the exhibits and enjoy a star show at the Strasenburgh Planetarium.
Tuesday, Feb. 21: By Land & Sea (SOLD OUT)
Elements of the Extreme will be your guide for a day of discovering our constantly changing Earth. By land and sea, experience the dynamic nature of the powerful forces that shape our planet, dig down to uncover the earth’s layers and dive into the deep blue sea. Watch earthquakes in real time with the world at your fingertips in Science on a Sphere.
Wednesday, Feb. 22: Animal Antics (SOLD OUT)
The animal kingdom consists of over 2 million known species (so far!) and are some of weirdest and wildest inhabitants of our world. Ever wonder what all of those animals are up to? See how they measure up—from tiny, fuzzy and slimy to critters that crawl and fly. Meet some marvelous animals as you participate in special animal shows!
Thursday, Feb. 23: The Air Up There (SOLD OUT)
Take a deep breath….and let it out! It’s all about air--Earth is surrounded by this invisible mixture of gases that make up our atmosphere and make life on our planet possible! From a single breath to wild wind and weather to the physics of flight, pneumatics and beyond, the power of air is everywhere! Watch weather patterns move across the atmosphere in a special viewing in Science on a Sphere.
Friday, Feb. 24: Fire & Ice (SOLD OUT)
Experience the wild sides of temperature, from the extremes of flaming heat to the frigid cold! Turn up (and down!) the heat on states of matter, discover why salt melts ice, experiment with ice volcanoes and mix up a batch of ice cream with the extreme freezing powers of a liquid that’s so cool it boils at -320°F! Enjoy an explosive Live Science show from the RMSC Players.
Extended Care Options
Extended care options are available Monday through Friday. This is a period of unstructured, yet supervised, exploration time in one of the museum’s exhibit galleries monitored by our Youth Program staff. Extended Care is provided for an additional charge of $5 per child, per extended care session.
Before Care Session: 8 to 9 a.m
After Care Session: 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $5 per session each day
Is registration necessary?
Yes, campers must register online or by phone at 585.697.1942 before the start of camp.
Where should I drop off my camper each day?
Please bring your camper to the Museum lobby each morning for check-in.
Will there be food provided?
Snack will be provided by the RMSC. In the case of severe food allergies, it is highly recommended that a camper brings his or her own snack. Lunch is NOT included. Campers must bring their own lunch. Please note that refrigeration is not available.
