Hands-On in the Inventor Center
Where STEM meets student.
New challenges are presented every three to five months, and it's up to students to solve them. In the process, students are engaged in the four stages of invention:
Wind Energy challenge
September 12, 2014–January 11, 2015
Design and build an efficient wind turbine. Set up a wind farm alone or as group to light up a model city.
Catapult Forces challenge
January 16, 2015–June 21, 2015
Experiment with different projectiles, arm lengths and other variables to build and launch catapults, trebuchets and slingshots and breach a castle. Test creations for power and distance.
Da Vinci-The Genius exhibition, Grades 5-12
February 13, 2015—May 17, 2015
Experience da Vinci's brilliance as an artist, scientist, inventor, sculptor, musician, mathematician, engineer, and architect.
Even more electrifying! Look for the on-stage Faraday cage this fall. Teachers welcome to spend a song in the cage.
It's musical lightning featuring Tesla coils! Ignite an interest in the science of electricity, power and energy with this science show featuring a dazzling display of indoor bolts of musical lightning.
Increased Flexibility for Planetarium Programs
To better meet your programming needs, we will no longer be publishing a Planetarium School Calendar. Planetarium shows will be booked based on availability on a first-come, first-served basis, Tuesday through Friday, so call early.
