Fridays and Saturdays in July and August: 12-4pm
When I grow up, I want to be a _____! Fill in the blank after spending this summer at the RMSC. Enjoy activities and experiences to remember as you learn about all the cool things that people do, and find out how you can do them, too. Escape the heat and join us for fun-filled days for the whole family!
Medical Marvels: July 18 and 19
Test your brain with mind games, learn about the circulatory system and make fake blood. The human body is a truly amazing structure with many intricate parts. Visit with health professionals from across the community and discover what they do to help keep us healthy.
Amazing Artists: July 25 and 26
Try your hand at drawing comic book heroes and create a new character. Explore your artistic side and see what you can create with simple materials and your imagination. Talk with local artists about their work and meet representatives from the Memorial Art Gallery.
August 1 and 2
Create your own sports team logo and test your endurance on an obstacle course while learning about the heart and why a healthy heart rate is so important. Meet experts who will teach you about all the things that go into becoming "fit," like being focused, eating healthy foods and being active.
Aerodynamic Adventures: August 8 and 9
Investigate the world of flight. From planes and helicopters to birds and insects, learn all about the ability to fly high. Test your paper airplane skills and learn about what makes butterflies so special. Also, meet live birds and talk with their handlers.
Radical Reptiles: August 15 and 16
Come up close and personal with scaly friends as you will meet different live reptiles each day. Investigate the world of these interesting cold-blooded creatures. Learn about the similarities and differences between a reptile and an amphibian while meeting local animal professionals.
Build It, Break It: August 22 and 23
See how tall you can make a structure built completely out of cups, and then destroy it! Take apart old electronics to make something new and learn about the science behind bridge building. Meet members of local FIRST Robotics teams and find out how you can get involved. Put on your hardhat and have some fun!
Supersonic Space: August 29 and 30
Find out how much you would weigh on other planets! Watch rocket launches and recreate constellations using K'NEX. From stars and constellations to astronauts and rockets, take off with us as we discover some of the amazing aspects of outer space. End your summer by seeing a star show at the Strasenburgh Planetarium.
