2013 Summer Almost Camps, for 5-7 Year Olds
(children entering grades K-1)
This camp is a great opportunity for children to prepare for a full-day program! The camp runs from 9am–2:30pm, allowing extra time for fun, learning, and museum exploration.
Please bring a bag lunch as lunch is not provided by the RMSC.
Refund/Cancellation Policy:
- Full payment is required at registration (which includes $50 non-refundable processing fee for full-day camps and a $20 non-refundable processing fee for mini-camps and almost camps).
- $100 deposit is retained in the case of withdrawl from full-day camps after June 1st and up to two weeks before camp.
- NO REFUNDS given during the 10 business days before a camp.

Adventures in Archaeology
Join us this week and learn about the world of archaeology. Examine artifacts, learn about the amazing finds archaeologists have made in our region, work on a simulated excavation and learn what it takes to become an archaeologist.

Discovering Science
Are you a scientist? Engineering! Chemistry! Physics! Astronomy! Biology! Nano science! Perform a variety of experiments and learn about different branches of science. Investigate all things science in this fun-filled week of discoveries.

Exploring Insects
Begin your entomology career here as you discover, explore and investigate all things bugs. Visit with the RMSC,’s collection of creepy crawlies. Go on bug hunts and use microscopes to get a better view of the insect world. Make bug boxes to take home.

Plant Exploration
Investigate the world of plants and the animals that depend on them. Plant your own garden, trees and flowers. Build a worm box and discover why worms are so important. Find out why leaves change color in the fall. Use plants to create your own works of art.

Exploring Space
Discover what it takes to explore space. Blast off rockets, learn about our solar system and galaxy. Create your own planetary rovers. Enjoy trips to the Strasenburgh Planetarium for star shows and behind-the-scenes tours. Take a mission to mars at our Challenger Center.

Rocks and Fossils
What can rocks and fossils tell us? What are fossils anyway? How are rocks and crystals formed? Find out how fossils are made and learn what it takes to be a geologist or paleontologist. Make your own fossils and crystals to take home!

Gravity Games
Birds, planes, water, humans—all things on Earth are affected by gravity. What makes gravity so special? How do we overcome gravity? Explore how humans have tried to copy the flight of birds, animals and insects. Make paper airplanes and straw rockets. Make hot air balloons, and drop objects from areas high above ground.
