Giant-Screen Films Star and Laser Shows Dazzle Audiences and Spark Interest in Science and Technology.
Giant-screen films bring audiences on scientific adventures to space, through the dessert, underwater or among volcanoes. Audiences become inspired by cutting-edge science presented in star shows and mesmerized by dazzling laser lights accompanied by rock music during "Saturday Night Laser."

RACE: Are We So Different?
January 26—April 28, 2013
The exhibit explores the everyday experience of race, the contemporary science that is challenging common ideas about race, and the history of this idea in the United States. While differences are socially and culturally real, contemporary scientific understanding of race and human variation is complex and may challenge how visitors think about it. In other words, we are not all that different.

Experience all three floors of the Museum in a new way by enjoying a live band, various activities, snacks and a cash bar. During the event, costume-clad attendees can:

·      Experience live Big Band music performed by The Uptown Groove.

·      View classic black and white films in the RMSC's Bausch Auditorium.

·      Watch professionals make popular mixed drinks of the 1920s, like a "highball" and cocktails that include eggs!

·      Participate in a 1920s era trivia game.

·      Enjoy popcorn from a carnival popcorn popper.

In an array of work created by fifteen members of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI), Nature in Art demonstrates the principle task of the science illustrator—to create accurate renderings of scientific subjects. In this exhibit, scientific illustrations of birds, trees and other natural subjects are depicted in both traditional and digital formats. These illustrations precisely show proportions, coloration and anatomy of a subject. They communicate complex descriptive information in an aesthetically appealing way and aid the viewer by providing intricate detail. In addition to the artwork, a variety of taxidermy birds will be on display, including a snowy owl, wood duck and Eastern meadowlark. Click here for more information.
