Experience the dynamic variety of tools people use to communicate. From cave art to Morse code, try your hand at a host of techniques to send and receive information.
Designed by Discovery Center Museum of Rockford, IL and the Family Museum of Arts and Sciences of Bettendorf, IA as part of the Traveling Exhibits At Museums of Science (TEAMS) collaborative, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Expedition Earth Glaciers & Giants
Explore millions of years of breathtaking changes in our region's environment. Enter a glacial ice cave, stand in awe of a lifelike, full-scale model mastodon, uncover replica mastodon bones at a dig site, and more!
How Things Work
Explore the science behind everyday devices in this hands-on, minds-on exhibit. Through fun, first-hand investigation, find out how mechanisms such as light switches, thermostats, and traffic signals work.
K'NEX
Flex your engineering skills and creative muscle! Build trucks, towers—anything you can imagine—with this colorful construction toy. Purchase your creations to take home, or take them apart to come back and play another day.

Learn how Seneca people created new livelihoods in the 1930s. See items crafted by Haudenosaunee people as they entered a market economy. Learn about clans, the "glue" that has held Haudenosaunee society together.

An Ever-Changing Planet (NEW Exhibition)

Expedition Earth, our popular natural science exhibition, expands with a new exhibit that explores the ways that the earth and the life that it supports have changed over the last 500 million years in our region.
Interactive experiences, hands-on specimens, and sensational visual environments bring the ancient past dramatically to life.

You & Your Earth (NEW Exhibition)

This new, expanded exhibit area of Expedition Earth, our popular natural science exhibition, explores the vast array of living things that populate our region.
Explore the connections that we humans have to all of the life forms around us. Discover breaking news of the earth's environment in the "Bio-Bulletins Theater." Young children will enjoy the Beaver Lodge, an interactive area just for them.

Toys: The Inside Story (Exhibit)

Explore the mechanisms that make toys like Elmo dance and Mr. Machine run in this fun, hands-on exhibition. Create your own toy-like combinations of gears, pulleys, linkages, cams, and circuits.

Developed by the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, VT, as part of the TEAMS (Traveling Exhibits at Museums of Science) collaborative, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
