New Exhibit at RMSC Cumming Nature Center Features Paintings of Western New York Landscapes with Scandinavian Flair
ROCHESTER, NY—Nils R. Caspersson: Rural Paintings, a new exhibit at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) Cumming Nature Center (CNC), showcases work in acrylics done by a self-trained artist. The exhibit opens Tuesday, May 6 and remains on display through Monday, September 1 in the CNC Hurst Gallery.
Visitors will view rural paintings that are reflections of bold contemporary Scandinavian colors and traditional design. Diverse western New York landscapes, communities and personalities are recurring themes in the artist's images.
Nils R. Caspersson is a retired New York State teacher with Swedish heritage and a background in folk arts and folk music. He has received several awards for his art, including "Best of Show" at the South Bristol Cultural Center in 2008 and a Finger Lakes Exhibition Merit Award from the Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester, 1986. His work has appeared in dozens of national and international art shows.
Nils R. Caspersson: Rural Paintings is open during regular CNC hours: 9am–3:30pm, Wednesday–Friday and 9am–4:30pm, Saturday and Sunday. Admission to Nils R. Caspersson: Rural Paintings is free.
