Rochester Museum & Science Center Becomes 3-Ring Spectacular During Circus-Circus Program
ROCHESTER, NY—Juggling, fire, magic and animals! Visitors to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) experience Circus-Circus, a program during February break week featuring special performers and awesome hands-on fun for the whole family. The event takes place from 12pm to 4pm Saturday, February 15 through Sunday, February 23.
An array of circus-themed activities entertains visitors of all ages. As they clown around, visitors test their strength, experiment with balance and witness death-defying feats with the bed of 1,000 nails. In addition, daredevils try to walk a tightrope while inner-artists enjoy face painting. Visitors are encouraged to return to the RMSC as there will be a special "center ring" act every day. Acts are listed below:
Saturday, February 15: 12pm-4pm: Join Riley Schillaci, one of the few female sword swallowers in the world, for an educational afternoon of sideshow performance.
Sundays, February 16 and 23: 1pm and 3pm: Check out a very special "Fire Show" by the RMSC players as they explore the science of fire. Trust us, this show is H-O-T!
Monday, February 17: 1-4pm: Enjoy the amazing balloon artistry of Airigami as they create a Rube Goldberg device entirely out of balloons. Learn how to make balloon art.
Tuesday, February 18: 12:30-1pm and 2:30-3pm: Experience magic shows by the Amazing Magic Joe.
Wednesday, February 19: Joe Showers juggling shows: it's a ping-ponging, hula-hooping, volleyball-juggling, joke-telling, finger-tricking good time.
Thursday, February 20: See demonstrations by the Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester, Inc. Learn about getting involved.
Friday, February 21: Be delighted and inspired by acrobatic and artistic movement demonstrations by members of the Rochester Parkour performance team.
Saturday, February 22: Get up-close with furry, feathered, and scaled friends with the Rochester Greyhound Society, the Animal teachers and Anne Meade, and some of the RMSC's very own animal friends.
Visitors are also welcome to explore special games and puzzles in the Math Midway exhibition on display through March 17. Math Midway, a carnival-themed, hands-on traveling exhibition, is dedicated to the amazing world of mathematics. Dynamic exhibits encourage mental exercise, which stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity and reveal mathematical wonders.
The Circus-Circus program is free with regular museum admission: $13 adults, $12 seniors and college students with ID, $11 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members. Admission to the Math Midway exhibition is also free with regular museum admission. Check rmsc.org for more information.
