New Rochester Museum & Science Center Board of Trustees Chair and Members Bring Expertise to Institution
ROCHESTER, NY—The Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) proudly announces that John Carver has become Board of Trustees chair (2013-2014), succeeding Andrew Meloni, and welcomes three additional board members for a three-year term (class of 2013-2016). Carver, a current RMSC board member, brings extensive management experience to the institution. The three additional members, Jeffrey Allen, Bruce Baker and Jerry Cott, are experienced leaders that will help the RMSC drive its strategic focus. Now serving as vice chairs, Patrick Cunningham, Paul Holloway and John Bruning are veteran RMSC board members.
John Carver, Manufacturing and Sales, The Gleason Works (Retired in 2000). During Carver's 35-year career at The Gleason Works, he held key positions in manufacturing management. He served as president of the Cunningham Corporation in Honeoye Falls, assistant general manager of Gleason's plant in Belgium, manager of Powder Metal Forging, sales manager for the Eastern U.S., and manager of Gleason's Proposal Team where he provided quotations for Gleason's products worldwide. Carver joined the RMSC volunteer Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in 2000 and has had a hand in building some of most popular interactive exhibits with members of the group. Carver resides in Pittsford, NY.
Jeffrey Allen, Attorney, Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC. Allen has extensive experience in providing commercial and business litigation services for clients in website development and internet marketing, online gaming, equipment manufacturing and distribution, aviation, entertainment, fashion design and real estate. Allen returned to Rochester in 2013 after more than a decade in southern California, where he managed a law firm he founded. Allen was named one of the "Top Young Attorneys in Southern California" by Los Angeles Magazine. Allen resides in Rochester, NY.
Bruce Baker, Partner, Nixon Peabody LLP. Baker specializes in real estate development and construction law. Baker is a member of Nixon Peabody's Real Estate and Infrastructure Groups and serves on the boards of the University of Pennsylvania Club of Rochester and the Harvard/Radcliffe Club of Rochester. Baker is also a longtime member of the New York State Bar Association, has served as chair of the Banking Law Committee and the Business Law Section, and is currently a member of the House of Delegates. Baker resides in Pittsford, NY.
Jerry Cott, PE, President and CEO, EMCOR Services Betlem. Cott builds effective HVAC and facilities service teams that provide innovative solutions, high-performance systems, and customized care to clients. Cott oversees and coordinates a range of activities in Upstate, New York. In addition, Cott works closely with his team to reduce customer owning and operating costs by employing the latest technologies to optimize the use of mechanical systems. Cott is responsible for developing the company's overall growth strategy. He is also involved in industry associations, including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Cott resides in Pittsford, NY.
