Rochester Museum &
Science Center Celebrates Rochester's Culture in Honor of Martin Luther King
Jr. Day
ROCHESTER,
NY—Rochester, New York is known for its diversity and rich culture,
among many other features. In honor of this and in observance of
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, visitors can participate in hands-on activities at
the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) to celebrate what makes the
community unique. The event takes place from 12pm until 4pm Saturday, January
19 through Monday, January 21.
This
year's celebration features immersive experiences as community members have the
opportunity to celebrate Rochester through music, dance and art with
performing groups from across Rochester.
This program ties
in with the RMSC's new traveling exhibition RACE:
Are We So Different? which explores the history, science and lived
experience of race. The exhibition opens January 19. In addition, celebrations
of culture will also take place during the RMSC's new "Cultural and Community
Sundays" where attendees celebrate diversity through voice, dance and
storytelling, among other activities. Also, visit the Facing Race, Embracing Equity: Rochester's Racial Equity Initiative
website at faceraceroc.org to learn about
other events happening in our community that help promote racial equity.
Programs
are free with regular Museum admission: $13 adults, $12 seniors and college
students with ID, $11 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members.
