and Responsibility in November at the Rochester Museum & Science Center
ROCHESTER,
NY—Visitors to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) discover
the wonders of science and technology in a variety of fields during "Science
Saturdays" throughout November. Attendees explore
possibilities in space, the technology behind lasers, wonders of light, as well
as learn about the responsibilities associated with owning a greyhound. Entire
families and community members of all ages can experience the excitement of
science through hands-on interaction and tips from the experts.

- SPACE ODYSSEY
Saturday, November 3: 12-4pm (Also on Sunday, November 4: 12–4pm)
Presented
by: NASA Science and Technology on the Family Calendar, a continuing
collaboration with RMSC, NASA and RIT
This program coincides with the
twelfth anniversary of continuous occupation of the International Space Station.
Future explorers will spend even more months and years away from Earth.
Visitors explore frontiers in space through several
interactive activities—How will we survive? What will we do in other

- MAKE A FAST FRIEND
Saturday November 10: 11am-3pm
Presented
by: Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester
Visitors learn about the history of the
Greyhound, how they train for racing, what their careers are like, and what great
pets they make. Also, visitors have a chance to meet some retired racing hounds!
- LASER MAZE
Saturday November 10: 11am-4pm
Presented
by UR SPIE Professional Society for Optics and Engineering
SPIE is the international society for
optics and photonics. Join RMSC staff to learn how light transfers and encodes
information. Visitors learn about the basic principles of light and laser
technology.
"Science
Saturdays" programs allow community members to dig their hands into science,
meet local experts and discover science phenomena in a relaxed, conversational
setting. "Science Saturdays" take place on selected Saturdays throughout the
year and are sponsored by Time Warner Cable. "Science Saturdays" cover a wide
range of science and technology fields and are designed for family members to
experience together.
Programs are, unless otherwise specified,
free with regular Museum admission: $13 adults, $12 seniors and college
students with ID, $11 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members.
