Saturdays in October at the Rochester
Museum & Science Center
ROCHESTER,
NY—Visitors to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) discover
the wonders of science in a variety of fields during "Science Saturdays"
throughout the month of October. Attendees explore the
universe, Earth science, fossils, archaeology and chemistry. Entire
families and community members of all ages can experience the excitement of
science through hands-on interaction and tips from the experts.

Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 (Special
two-day event): 12–3pm
INTERACTING WITH THE UNIVERSE
Presented by the Rochester
Institute of Technology Insight Lab
Visitors learn about outer space, planets and the Sun in our
universe.
Saturday, October 13: Science Saturday Double Feature: 11am
and 12:30pm
WHAT EARTH SCIENTISTS DO
Presented by Dr. Penny Higgins from the
University of Rochester
Visitors learn about the Earth Sciences! From earthquakes to paleontology
and climate change, to oil and space exploration—see what Earth Scientists do,
what they discover and explore potential career paths.
11am-4pm
FOSSILS
Presented by the Rochester Academy
of Science - Fossil Section
Visitors see fossils from New York State and beyond.
Saturday October 20: 11am-4pm
AIA PRESENTS ARCHAEOLOGY DAY 2012
Presented by the Archaeological Institute
of America Society of Rochester
Visitors learn, hands-on, about the field of archaeology and what it takes
to be an archaeologist. Dr. Renato Perucchio, Professor of Mechanical Engineering
and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester, will lecture in the
Bausch Auditorium at 11am.
Saturday, October 27: 11am-4pm
NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK
Presented by the Rochester Section of the
American Chemical Society
Local scientists teach visitors about the chemistry of things too small to see!
Visitors also get hands-on with cool experiments about nanoscience and enjoy
exciting demonstrations by student scientists from the schools including the University
of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College. Visitors
also explore the mysteries matter, and learn how to be a chemist.
"Science
Saturdays" programs allow community members to dig their hands into science,
meet local experts and discover science phenomena in a relaxed, conversational
setting. "Science Saturdays" take place on selected Saturdays throughout the
year and are sponsored by Time Warner Cable. "Science Saturdays" cover a wide
range of science and technology fields and are designed for family members to
experience together.
Programs are, unless otherwise specified,
free with regular Museum admission: $13 adults, $12 seniors and college
students with ID, $11 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members.
