Visitors from Japan Travel to Rochester
Museum & Science Center October 4 to Celebrate "Friendship Doll"
WHAT: Seven visitors
from Nagasaki, Japan will be coming to the Rochester Museum & Science
Center (RMSC) to celebrate Nagasaki
Tamako's 85th birthday. Also known as Miss Nagasaki, she is one of 58
ambassador dolls sent from Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, to America in 1927 as
part of an exchange of dolls between children of the two lands. The dolls'
mission is to promote understanding between nations through friendship among
children. Nagasaki Tamako has been in the RMSC collections since 1929. OF NOTE:
Miss Nagasaki is in good condition for being 85 years old and having made
numerous trips to Japan.
