Stand-up Paddleboarder to Cover
Length of Irondequoit Bay and Back August 3 For Support of RMSC Partner
WHAT: Anika
LaLopa, the first solo female to stand-up paddleboard Irondequoit Bay out to
Lake Ontario and Back, end-to-end, non-stop will do so in order to raise funds
for H2O Hero Project and the Water Education Collaborative (WEC)—a
partner of Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC). WEC is a Rochester
based coalition that serves to protect and improve water quality in the lakes
and streams of the Genesee regional watershed of Lake Ontario. The trip is 8.5
miles an estimated 5-7 hours of paddle time. Her goal is to do it close to 5
hours. LaLopa seeks to help raise awareness about the importance of water
quality and conservation, to build compassion and a caring attitude toward the
health of our bay and its wildlife, and to inspire others.
