New Radiohead Laser
Show at RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium
Opens May 5
Community members
selected show theme
ROCHESTER,
NY—Radiohead Laser, a show theme
selected by community members during a contest, opens at the Rochester Museum
& Science Center (RMSC) Strasenburgh Planetarium. Each Saturday night in
May, audience members lose themselves in the ethereal and electronic-style rock music of Radiohead accompanied by
brilliant laser lights. The show appears at 9:30pm and lasts nearly and hour.
The
selection of this new show theme was the result of a contest. The RMSC asked
community members to select their favorite out of a list of six possible laser
show music themes including country, top 40/pop,
classic rock, modern
rock, Michael Jackson and Radiohead. Votes collected on both the RMSC Facebook
page and Survey Monkey showed Radiohead as the winner. This contest was part of
the United Way ROC the Day initiative in December 2011.
Radiohead Laser, created
by RMSC staff, features songs such as "Creep," "Lotus Flower," "Paranoid
Android," "High and Dry," "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box," among
others. See
the full list of songs on the RMSC website.
An exciting virtual environment, visitors
experience immersive video effects and watch colorful light dance among the stars on the inner surface of the huge
Planetarium dome.
Laser beams pulse along with the psychedelic music,
creating a perfect pattern. "Saturday Night Laser"
show themes change monthly. Admission is $7 for adults and $6 for seniors, college students,
students ages 5–18 and RMSC members. Children under age five
are not admitted to "Saturday Night Laser" shows.
Tickets
for laser shows may be purchased in advance at the Museum Welcome Center
(museum lobby) during regular business hours, at the Strasenburgh Planetarium
Box Office or online at www.rmsc.org. Online
ticket purchases must be made at least 24 hours prior to the show. Box Office
hours vary according to the show schedule. Check online or by calling (585)271-1880.
