Get Hands-on with Math, Recycling,
Astronomy and Fossils During "Science Saturdays" at Rochester Museum &
Science Center
ROCHESTER,
NY—Visitors to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) this March
explore the fun of math and science as well as learn about recycling, identify
constellations and discover fossils from western New York. These activities are
part of the RMSC "Science Saturdays" program—where entire
families and community members of all ages can experience the excitement of
science through hands-on interaction and tips from the experts. Details on

Fun
with Hands-On Activities in Mathematics and Sciences
Saturday, March 3: 12–4pm
Presented by: Nazareth College
representatives
Visitors
immerse themselves in hands-on, visual and problem solving activities for
students of all ages in mathematics, biology and chemistry.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—Plastics
Saturday, March 17: 10am–4pm
Presented by: Society of Women Engineers
& Eastman Kodak
The
workshop focuses on plastic and ways to reduce use, recycle and reuse plastic. Visitors
can make jewelry from #6 plastic.
Much Ado About Nothing
Saturday, March 17: 11am–3pm

Astronomy 101: Finding Your Way Around the
Night Sky

Astronomy Section
Members
of the Astronomy Section, Rochester Academy of Science show visitors how to
make planispheres, and use it to identify the constellations and find the
planets visible to the naked eye. They will also answer questions about
astronomy and telescopes.
Fossils
– A Window to the Past

Show
and tell of fossils from around the world with a focus on western New York.
"Science
Saturdays" programs allow community members to dig their hands into science,
meet local experts and discover science phenomenon's in a relaxed,
conversational setting. "Science Saturdays" take place on selected Saturdays
throughout the year and are sponsored by Time Warner Cable. "Science Saturdays"
cover a wide range of science and technology fields and are designed for family
members to experience together.
Programs are, unless otherwise specified,
free with regular Museum admission: $12 adults, $11 seniors and college
students with ID, $10 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members.
Museum admission with Extreme Mammals:
The Biggest, Smallest, and Most Amazing Mammals of All Time is $15 for
adults, $14 for seniors/college students with ID, $13 for ages 3–18, $3 for RMSC
members, and free for children under 3. For group
