December "Saturday Night Laser" at the
Strasenburgh Planetarium Features 90s Hits
Community members are
invited to select the theme of a future laser show
ROCHESTER,
NY—Experience some of the greatest music from the 90s accompanied by brilliant
laser lights at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) Strasenburgh
Planetarium. Shows take place Saturdays, December 3, 10 and 17 starting at 9:30pm
and last approximately 50 minutes. This performance includes music from a
number of different artists. In addition, community members are invited to vote
on the next laser show theme.
90s Laser features a wide range of tunes
like "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter In a Small Town," Pearl Jam; "Machinehead,"
Bush; "Wonderwall," Oasis; "Never There," Cake; "Mysterious Ways," U2; "Smells
Like Teen Spirit," Nirvana; "Zombie," The Cranberries, among others.
Luminous argon and krypton laser light
effects dance across the Planetarium dome, heightening the experience with
sight as well as sound. A six-channel digital sound system amplifies the music.
Admission is $10 for
adults and $9 for seniors, college students, students ages 5–18 and RMSC
members. Children under age five are not admitted to
Saturday Night Laser shows.
As
part of the ROC the Day initiative by United Way, the RMSC invites community
members to submit their vote for the theme of the next laser show. Votes must
be placed by December 8, 2011, and the selection with the most votes will be
chosen as the new show. Community members can choose from six themes/artists: country, top 40/pop,
classic rock, modern
rock, Michael Jackson and Radiohead. Submitting laser show theme ideas does not
mean community members are required to donate. Vote here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Lasershow.
